Featherlite’s product line includes all-aluminum horse trailers, stock trailers, car trailers, recreational trailers and utility trailers, as well as business-to-business specialty trailers, command centers and professional race transporters. Featherlite trailers are available at authorized dealerships in the U.S., Canada and Australia.
When I purchased the trailer the latch on the camper door had to be fixed when I got home bc it wouldn’t stay shut. It’s already has stuff that is falling apart. The plastic on the screens is cheap and one has broken already for being a new trailer it sure seems like it wasn’t put together very well. I love how light it is but not sure if I made the right choice to buy this kind of trailer. I’m disappointed in a few things that have happened already!!
The featherlite topper is very well constructed, and incredibly durable. I have taken this box on several trips to pick up lambs and it makes it so much easier then pulling a trailer. The only down side to the featherlite topper is that it does not have a locking system on the back gate, and the divider gate has no way to secure it in the open position. I believe that if you correct these two issues the system would be perfect.
I bought a very expensive trailer from what is supposed to be the best all around trailer. I was unfamiliar with the dot and mc carrier laws after i purchased the trailer i relized it was way over rated for me and i would need a cdl lic to drive the truck and trailer combo. I called and asked if i could have the trailer underrated and have the gvw lowered and was told it was not possible. I called the dealer and ask if they would trade me out of it for lower gvw trailer and was told sure and they offered me 30k for the trailer that i bought a month prior for 44k. I was prepared to lose some money but that was crazy. I called sundowner and they told me if i bought one of their trailers they could gvw it for what i needed. So at this point i have a 40 some thousand dollar yard ornament i cant do anything with. Pretty sad i cant get any help so that i can use a trailer that i bought and it has to sit here as i continue to pay monthly on it. I own thre very succesful harley dealerhips and would never treat my customers the way that ive been treated in this whole deal. I would not ever recomend your trailers to anyone and i will always tell people about my poor experience with you guys. Feel free to cantact me with questions. 407-948-5853
I researched my next trailer carefully and settled on a Featherlite. It took over 5 mos to get my 2-horse slant gooseneck with 42” tack room since such was not in high demand. But I don’t need a live aboard, but do want lots of room for stuff, and I got that. I am very impressed with the fit and finish of this aluminum trailer. It is built like a tank and hauls very well. My only quibble is having a way to tigh back the separation bar to the trailer wall. Odd that there isn’t one, but maybe it is an extra I overlooked.
The trailer pulls great but attention to details from the factory is poor. Trailer arrived with no keys took over a month to to have them shipped to me when they arrived keys were wrong took another 3 weeks to get the right KEY only sent me one. Plastic cover over hyd pump for the jack was only Held on by Velcro blew off second trip I made, took another 5 weeks to get a new cover which came with no Velcro or screws to attach it. One of the drop down windows in the horse area doesn’t work properly you have to manually insert it in the slots or horse just pushes it out and sticks it head outside. Another drop down window would not close after it was put down the first time frame was bent I had to repair it to close it. The rubber door handle on the tack door also blew off about the fourth or fifth trip never have got a new one. So far problems have been small but not what I expected when buying a premium trailer hope it’s not an indication of what’s to come
Excellent product. Construction quality is outstanding, and the optional features added are all high quality and well installed. The customer service at Sportchassis/ Featherlite Trailers of Texas was excellent. Glenn knows his product very well, did a great job walking me through the ordering process, listened carefully and answered my questions, and provided thoughtful and very useful advice when needed. Overall a great experience, and after 4 months of use I am very happy with the trailer.
The 3182 trailer is great for hauling my modified JKU to off-road events. It has nice features such as self-adjusting brakes, bearing lube system, surface mount tie down, in-chassis ramp storage, and removable fenders. It is easy to load, easy to tow, and handles well. The ramps are light and easy to handle. The fit and finish of the trailer is very good. The welds on the trailer look good and clean. The light weight of the aluminum trailer (compared to a steel trailer) allows more of the gross weight limit to be allocated to the load instead of the trailer itself. The things I don’t like about it are very minor. The design does not provide an easy means to lock the ramps in their bays and the provided length of chain for securing the spare tire could be easily circumvented. The craftsmanship of the tire carrier is not as nice as it is on trailer. The welds are not as good and they have not been cleaned up. The carrier still has the deposits from the welding process around the welds. Overall, I am very pleased with the trailer. Paying more attention to some minor details would make it I even better.
I love this trailer. It is everything and more than I expected. Tows like a dream behind my truck, my horses are calm and relaxed in it, and the features on it allow me peace of mind, especially when hauling my horses. The light indicator on the fenders allows me to be sure my lights are working on the trailer at all times. Thank you, thank you, thank you for adding this on your trailers. Love, love the saddle pad holder in the dressing room that was included on mine. I use it for other needs as well, including holding a light when I use the trailer as my camping site. I also must thank the dealer, Ridge Trailers in Columbia City, Ind. owned by Rachel and Matt Thomas. What a fantastic business! Rachel went way beyond in service to be sure I had what I needed for this trailer and she has continued to stay in touch. As far as we are concerned, this is one top-notch Featherlite dealership. When we finally decide to upgrade to a gooseneck, this is where we will go to look for that special trailer. If you want special attention, no pressure purchase and someone who will stand by the product. I could not recommend Ridge Trailers more!
